What could be the possible meaning of this statement?
In using the word 'HEART', I am obviously NOT referring to the physical organ, commonly referred to as the 'human heart' - whose function it is to pump blood around the physical body.
Rather, I am referring to what can be described as The 'Spiritual Heart.' It is a non-physical POINT; in fact, THE MOST CENTRAL POINT IMAGINABLE.
To try and clarify, at this juncture, (not only for my own readers; but also for my OWN understanding!) what it is that I am attempting to say here; it my be useful to depict a situation - which may well be familiar to my readers - taken from the old 'circus' entertainment act, where the 'magician' gets a person to get into a box; (the lid is closed, bolted, etc,) whereupon, the 'magician' proceeds to insert sequentially, a number of swords, from all possible directions, into the 'box.'
The 'gist' of the 'trick' is to demonstrate that the 'subject' of this 'magic trick' was completely unharmed, as She/He emerges from the box unscathed, in spite of the swords having pierced right through the 'box' (and presumably the human body inside of it!)
What I have in mind is something altogether different; in spite the undeniable suitability of the preceding depiction; on account of it's graphic, and (hopefully) familiar theme.
If you could just imagine for a moment, a situation, similar to the preceding description, except for the crucial fact that instead of the 'swords' passing right through the (imagined) 'body in the box'; and coming out the other side, all of those 'swords' (or imagined 'geometrical' lines) kept going further, and further, and still yet further, INTO the CENTRE - of an imagined SPHERE, representing the Totality of The Human Being - comprised of Three Principal 'layers' - or 'spherical bodies.'
That is, if you keep going further, and further, and still yet further into this imagined SPHERICAL ENTITY - DEPICTING THE Total HumanBeing; without coming out the other side; you will ultimately reach the 'Absolute Centre' of your Entire Being - Your Very OWN SELF!
These 'swords' (or imagined 'geometrical lines') would eventually all reach, or 'arrive at' The 'Absolute Centre' of our ENTIRE BEING.
This 'HUMAN-SPIRITUAL BEING' of ours, is, in fact, comprised of THREE Principal 'bodies', or 'layers' - the 'physical' body is the outermost layer of what can, with a great deal of accuracy, be depicted as a SPHERE.
The next Inner-most 'body' or 'layer' is referred to as the 'subtle' (or energy) body. The Inner-most 'body' or 'layer' is known as the 'mental body.'
Located at the Very Centre of this Three-Layered Sphere is the POINT to which I am referring. In Vedanta Philosophy it is known as the 'OM Point'; and although it is considered to be the 'Creation Point' - or, 'Point of Emanation' - of The Whole Cosmic Creation; (and, paradoxical as it may seem to our conscious, rational mind), it is also considered to be the absolutely same, one Universal OM Point, hidden DEEP WITHIN, Each and every Individual Human Being, on This Planet Earth - where we ALL live our own individual and collective daily lives.
This Universal CENTRE is comparable to a 'fixed star' that NEVER changes it's position; It is the Ultimate Navigation Point.
This 'Three Layered Sphere' can also be conceived of as The 'TOTAL MIND'; with each 'layer' representing a different 'density' - analogous to the 'three states of matter' in physics - that is, 'solid, liquid and gas' (going in the direction of 'outside-in').
What we have instead is - 'THE THREE STATES of THE TOTAL MIND.' The outermost layer corresponds to the actual physical body; the 'middle' layer corresponds to the actual 'subtle' body (energy body); and the innermost layer corresponds to the actual 'mental' body, most of which is in the very depths of the 'Unconscious Mind.'
